List of Tallest Statues in the World
The ten tallest statues on Earth ranked by the height of the figure itself, from India's Statue of Unity to Japan's Dai Kannon, with locations, subjects, and completion years.
The world's tallest statues are staggering feats of engineering and devotion, and almost all of them stand in Asia. Heights here are measured by the figure itself, excluding any pedestal, plinth, or supporting building, which is the standard way these monuments are compared. By that measure India's Statue of Unity towers above every other at 182 metres, honouring independence leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and it dethroned China's Spring Temple Buddha, which had held the title from 2008. The list is dominated by colossal Buddhist and Hindu figures, with India, China, Japan, Myanmar, Thailand, and the Philippines all represented. Notably, two of the ten are in India, including Vishwas Swaroopam, a 106-metre statue of Lord Shiva in Nathdwara, Rajasthan. The figures below reflect the height of the statue alone; many sit on tall bases that make their total monument height considerably greater.
