The ICC T20 World Cup, inaugurated in 2007, has seen ten editions produce six different champions. India stand as the most successful team with three titles, including a historic back-to-back triumph in 2024 and 2026 — the first team to successfully defend the title in T20 World Cup history. The 2026 final in Ahmedabad was a dominant display by India. Sanju Samson scored 89 off 46 balls — the highest individual score in a T20 World Cup final — while Abhishek Sharma (52 off 18 balls) set a record for the fastest fifty in a knockout game. India posted 255/5, the highest total in any T20 World Cup final. Jasprit Bumrah then dismantled New Zealand with 4/15, the first four-wicket haul in a T20 World Cup final. West Indies won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2016, the latter featuring Carlos Brathwaites unforgettable four consecutive sixes off Ben Stokes. 6	2016 – West Indies India Beat England by 4 wickets in the final at Kolkata. Carlos Brathwaite hit 4 consecutive sixes off Ben Stokes in the final over to seal a famous victory.
7	2021 – Australia UAE/Oman Beat New Zealand by 8 wickets in the final at Dubai. Mitchell Marsh scored an unbeaten 77 as Australia won their maiden T20 World Cup title.
8	2022 – England Australia Beat Pakistan by 5 wickets in the final at Melbourne. Sam Curran was Player of the Tournament as England won their second T20 World Cup.
9	2024 – India USA/West Indies Beat South Africa by 7 runs in the final at Barbados. Virat Kohli scored 76 and Jasprit Bumrah took key wickets as India won their second T20 World Cup.
10	2026 – India India/Sri Lanka Beat New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at Ahmedabad. India posted 255/5 (Sanju Samson 89, Abhishek Sharma 52, Ishan Kishan 54). Bumrah took 4/15 as India became the first team to defend the T20 World Cup and win three titles.
