LBW dismissals in T20 cricket are rarer than in Test matches — the shorter format encourages more cross-bat hitting, sweep shots and improvised strokes that expose the pad more often in a scoring context rather than a defensive one. However, certain delivery types are particularly LBW-prone: the inswinging yorker (Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah's stock delivery), the straight leg-spinner that goes on with the arm (Yuzvendra Chahal's flipper), and the fast leg-cutter that nips back into the right-hander (Bhuvneshwar Kumar). Historically, Jasprit Bumrah's maiden IPL wicket against Virat Kohli in 2013 was itself an LBW — a sign of things to come. Bumrah has since made LBW one of his primary dismissal types, with his inswing and seam trapping right-handed batters who play across the line.
