The IPL runners-up prize has grown from ₹2.4 crore in 2008 to ₹13 crore in 2025 — more than a 5× increase. CSK holds the record for most runner-up appearances (5: 2008, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2019), while RCB appear three times (2009, 2011, 2016). The lowest payout for runners-up was ₹6.25 crore in the COVID-affected 2020 season. The current runner-up prize of ₹13 crore has been stable since 2022. By BCCI rules, half of this amount must be shared with the franchise's players.
