Since the Indian Premier League began in 2008, eight different franchises have lifted the coveted IPL trophy across 18 seasons. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings share the record for most IPL titles with five each, cementing their status as the tournament's greatest dynasties. Kolkata Knight Riders are the only other team with multiple titles, having won three times. Rajasthan Royals, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have each won the trophy once. Notably, some of the original 2008 franchises — Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings — have never won the title despite featuring in every season. Deccan Chargers, who won in 2009, are the only defunct team to have been IPL champions.
