Gorilla Monsoon

Play-by-Play — Final WrestleMania Appearance

Gorilla Monsoon called his final WrestleMania at WM8 — the seventh consecutive year he had served as the event's play-by-play voice. Monsoon's authoritative commentary, encyclopaedic wrestling knowledge, and absolute commitment to the product made him the ideal voice for professional wrestling's biggest stage. His WM8 work included memorable exchanges with Heenan throughout the Flair vs. Savage match and his genuine excitement for both major title changes. Monsoon's health declined from 1993 onward, and he died on October 6, 1999. His WM8 commentary remains the final chapter of one of wrestling's greatest broadcasting legacies.

Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan

Colour Commentator — Also Serving as Manager of Ric Flair

Bobby Heenan's WM8 commentary was complicated by his dual role: as the colour commentator for the event and simultaneously as an ally/association of WWF Champion Ric Flair. His commentary throughout the Flair vs. Savage match was explicitly biased in Flair's favour — a conflict of interest the WWF cheerfully embraced rather than resolved. Heenan's WM8 work produced one of the greatest spontaneous commentary moments in WrestleMania history: his immediate reaction of 'Arriba McEntire!' as Tito Santana walked out moments after Reba McEntire's national anthem performance.

'Mean' Gene Okerlund

Backstage and In-Ring Interviewer

Mean Gene Okerlund conducted backstage and on-stage interviews throughout WrestleMania VIII, including his tense post-match interview with Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth backstage after the WWF Championship match. Savage handed the belt to Elizabeth and declared 'it's for her' in Okerlund's presence — one of the most emotionally resonant post-championship moments of the event. Gene also interviewed the Legion of Doom with Paul Ellering on the arena stage before their non-match appearance, marking Ellering's WWF return.

Sean Mooney

Additional Backstage Interviewer

Sean Mooney conducted several backstage interviews at WrestleMania VIII, most notably the pre-match interview with WWF Champion Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect — where Perfect claimed to be holding Flair's promised Elizabeth centrefold on the reverse side of a large piece of cardboard — and his interview with Jake Roberts before the Undertaker match. Mooney's contribution to the WM8 broadcast was primarily in setting up the event's key storyline moments through pre-match interview segments.

Ring Announcer — Seventh Consecutive WrestleMania

Howard 'The Fink' Finkel served as the official ring announcer for WrestleMania VIII — his seventh consecutive WrestleMania in the role. Finkel's introductions for Randy Savage and Ric Flair for the championship match, and for Hulk Hogan's entrance, were among his most dramatically significant ring announcements of the era.

Ray Combs

Celebrity Guest Ring Announcer — Eight-Man Tag Match

Family Feud host Ray Combs served as the celebrity guest ring announcer for the eight-man tag team match — delivering a series of jokes at the expense of the heel team that drew crowd appreciation before the Nasty Boys' mock-threats sent him hiding under the announce table. Combs' game show persona and deadpan joke delivery made him a charming if unconventional WrestleMania celebrity personality.
