The centrepiece of the RAW Bowl New Year's special was a unique Fatal 4-Way Elimination Tag Match featuring four of Raw's top tag pairings: the Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart Gunn), Razor Ramon and Savio Vega, Sycho Sid and the 1-2-3 Kid, and Owen Hart and Yokozuna. The elimination order saw Sid and the Kid eliminate Ramon and Vega first; then the Smoking Gunns eliminated both Hart and Yokozuna and Sid and the Kid in succession to win the match. The Smoking Gunns' victory in such a high-profile multi-team format was a significant achievement for the tag champions.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley defeats Henry O. Godwinn – Hog Pen Match

The ongoing feud between the aristocratic Hunter Hearst Helmsley and the pig-farming Henry O. Godwinn reached its most degrading conclusion in a Hog Pen Match — with the loser required to be thrown into an actual pig pen filled with mud and livestock. Helmsley defeated Godwinn and avoided the humiliation he had been threatened with throughout their rivalry, the Connecticut blue-blood's relief at avoiding the slop bucket and pig pen completing his character arc in this programme.

Diesel defeats King Mabel

WWF Champion Diesel started the new year on Raw with a dominant victory over King Mabel, the big man's physical superiority reminding the audience of his championship-level status.
