The September 24, 2001 edition of Raw was the first WWE broadcast after the September 11 attacks and the cancelled September 17 show. WWE returned with a broadcast that included patriotic references to the attacks. The programme began its transition from being called 'Raw Is War' to simply 'Raw' from October 1, 2001 onwards, in direct response to the September 11 attacks — WWE felt the word 'War' was inappropriate.
